all about pilkington sailing club
There are three elements which come together to make Pilkington Sailing Club a wonderful club to join.
Firstly, there is the competitive racing which takes place on Sunday afternoons throughout the year and on Wednesday evenings from March to September. The main class of boat raced is the Enterprise, which is ideally suited to the size, shape and wind patterns of the Mere. Other classes which are sailed include the Solo, Mirror, Laser and Topper.
Secondly, there is the chance to learn how to sail. You can start off in the annual Beginners’ Course that runs on Thursdays from April through to September. However, we are all learners, improving all the time, and once you are a qualified sailor there are opportunities to improve your skills with the help and guidance of experienced Club sailors. Not everyone can commit to owning a boat; so again, the club owns boats you can take out on the water once you have the necessary skills.
And last, but by no means least, we are a friendly family club with close links to the local community, and as well as the racing and sailing activities, there are also a number of social events held throughout the year.
We are always interested in new members and we would welcome enquiries/visits to the Mere from anyone interested in sailing, beginners, racers or those who just wish to potter - there is something for everyone.
You can download a membership form here.
Please note that
PSC is a sailing club registered as a Community Amateur Sport Club and does not have exclusive use of the water. We lease our facilities from Pheasant Equities Limited and all enquiries other than about club sailing on Eccleston Mere should be directed to them in the first instance.
Thank you to all who might be interested in supporting us with our website, but all development is completed in house.
